As we enter our busy spring and summer season, we are looking for a friendly, dependable Part-Time Nursery & Customer Service Associate to join our team in Owosso, MI.

Role Overview
- Position Type: Part-Time Seasonal, must work weekend nursery hours
- Location: Crooked Tree Nursery and Landscaping, 2881 W. Bennington Rd.
Owosso, MI 48867 Located north of Perry - Reports To: Kristen Fountaine, Nursery Operations & Administration Manager
- Pay Rate: Hourly, starting at $15 and up based on experience
- Start Date: ASAP
Primary Responsibilities
- Customer Engagement: Provide a welcoming experience by assisting customers with plant selection, answering gardening questions, and offering guidance on outdoor projects.
- Sales Operations: Efficiently run the register, process transactions, and handle customer inquiries via phone or in person.
- Merchandising: Help maintain and refresh nursery displays to ensure a high-end, premium aesthetic that aligns with our new brand positioning.
- Nursery Maintenance: Support the health of our inventory through watering, pruning, and ensuring all plants are presented at their best.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Crooked Tree team to support events like our Spring Open House and seasonal promotions.

🌳 Landscape Crew Foreman – Outdoor Living & Landscaping
Position Summary
Crooked Tree Nursery is seeking an experienced Landscape Crew Foreman to lead landscape installation and outdoor living projects throughout Mid-Michigan.
This leadership role is responsible for crew supervision, job site coordination, quality control, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and train landscape crew members
- Assign daily tasks and maintain efficient workflow on job sites
- Read and interpret landscape plans, layouts, and construction drawings
- Oversee installation of hardscapes, plantings, grading, drainage, and site preparation
- Operate and oversee use of equipment including skid steers and excavators
- Maintain quality control and ensure projects meet specifications
- Communicate professionally with management and customers
- Track labor, materials, and project progress
- Enforce safety standards and maintain clean job sites
- Assist with hands-on installation work as needed
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong leadership and crew management skills
- Knowledge of landscaping, hardscaping, and construction methods
- Ability to read blueprints and layouts
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver’s license required
- Chauffeur license or CDL strongly preferred
Preferred Experience
- 3–5+ years of landscaping or construction experience
- Previous foreman or supervisory experience
- Experience operating landscape/construction equipment
- Knowledge of Michigan plant materials and climate conditions
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50–75 lbs regularly
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Frequent standing, lifting, bending, and equipment operation

🌱 Irrigation Technician – Job Description
Position Summary
The Irrigation Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and optimizing irrigation systems for residential, commercial, and nursery properties. This role ensures efficient water use, system reliability, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Install irrigation systems including piping, valves, controllers, and sprinkler heads
- Perform spring start-ups and winterization blowouts
- Diagnose and repair leaks, electrical issues, broken heads, and faulty valves
- Program and adjust irrigation controllers for seasonal and weather-based efficiency
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance
- Ensure proper water coverage and system efficiency
- Assist with trenching, pipe laying, and backfilling
- Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicles
- Communicate with customers regarding system status and recommendations
- Follow all safety procedures and local codes/regulations
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of irrigation systems, hydraulics, and troubleshooting
- Ability to read basic irrigation plans/blueprints
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Ability to operate hand tools, trenchers, and light equipment
- Strong attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license, chauffeur or CDL preferred but not required
Preferred Experience
- 1–3+ years in irrigation or landscape maintenance
- Experience with controllers such as Hunter, Rain Bird, etc.
- Backflow certification, or willingness to obtain
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Frequent bending, kneeling, digging, and walking

🚛 CDL Driver
Position Summary
Crooked Tree Nursery is seeking a reliable CDL Driver to support our landscape, nursery, and outdoor living operations by safely transporting materials, equipment, plants, and supplies to and from job sites throughout Mid-Michigan. Open to part time and retired drivers looking for local hours.
This role is ideal for someone who is dependable, safety-focused, comfortable operating trucks and equipment, and willing to assist with loading, unloading, and general job site support when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company trucks and equipment for deliveries and job site support
- Transport landscape materials, nursery stock, soil, mulch, stone, equipment, and supplies
- Load and unload materials using proper safety procedures
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- Maintain clean, organized, and properly functioning vehicles
- Coordinate with operations, foremen, and crew members to support daily project needs
- Assist with material staging, job site setup, and cleanup when needed
- Follow all DOT, safety, and company procedures
- Represent Crooked Tree professionally on job sites and during deliveries
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Valid CDL required
- Clean driving record preferred
- Experience hauling landscape, construction, or nursery materials preferred
- Ability to safely operate trucks, trailers, and related equipment
- Dependable, safety-minded, and detail-oriented
- Ability to communicate clearly with team members and management
- Willingness to assist with hands-on tasks as needed
